Animal Games is an indie rock band from Los Angeles. They specialize in trippy guitar riffs mixed with colourful vocals and strong drum beats. They envelop a very retro 80's style sound which is largely influenced by a mixture of the 80's era with today's modern indie rock groups. Bands such as Arcade Fire or The National are a couple examples of where their influence lies. They released their EP entitled Neon Wild back in July of 2011.
I really enjoyed listening to Neon Wild. Their music has an inherent serene sound that you might not catch at first, but if you listen closely, you can tell that their music is definitely calming. The combination of the strong lyrics and vocals with the guitar creates a very astute sound overall. Each instrument and each sound that every member brings to the table coincide very well with one another. The band definitely shows that they work very well together and rightfully so, as they put a lot of effort and time into finding the perfect sound through trial and error when forming the band. They were after a very particular sound and they found it, so to speak.
Neon Wild is an very sanguine and calculated album ranging from the likes of 80's retro to modern contemporary rock, masterfully compiled and composed. I hope you enjoy their music as much as I do!
