Spanish Indie RockA friend showed me this a while back and unfortunately it's taken me up until now to post this. This is certainly nothing new but something certainly refreshing. Prehistoricos, founded by Tomas Preuss and Jessica Romo are a lesser known Spanish Indie band based out of Chile. They effectively utilizes an almost minimalistic instrumental side coupled with their faint foreign lyrics to create an ultimately soothing experience. It's an experience that can only be explained so far with words, but must be heard.
Each song in their album 'La Orquesta Oculta' plays out in a series of layers, for a lack of better words. Starting soft and even delicately, everything is eventually unraveled in a skillful manner reaching just the right level and never going over. For those of us who aren't familiar with the Spanish language, this is a testament to the universality of music. Put on some headphones or hook up your speakers so you can fully appreciate how delicate this music can be with each individual guitar strum.
If you've ever needed an album to mellow out (seeing the trend here?), La Orquesta Oculta is definitely something you need to check out. Just as the nights are beginning to get cold, and the leaves lose green, you know Summer's coming to an end. The Prehistorico's are a great listen to watch it all unfold. You can grab the entire album free of charge here!
