The Artist
AIMES is a Brooklyn-based electronic producer who has just come out with his debut album entitled Your Floor Is Now A Tree. The album is out in stores now through ModyWorks.
The Music
I listened to the album and the second the first song came on, I was sold. AIMES is absolutely incredible. He knows exactly how to mix a nice upbeat rhythm with that sort of ambient down tempo beat that just hits you. The kind of "hits you" where you feel lost in the music. So, the album starts off with a couple nice melodic tracks, then it progresses into some really stirring vocals and it finally finishes with some more slower tracks. In my opinion, AIMES is telling a story through the album because a story builds and builds and builds, then it climaxes. After the climax, it slows down slightly similar to AIMES album.
Essentially, what I'm trying to say is that Your Floor Is Now A Tree is a beautiful piece of work. It's a novel condensed into the span of fifty minutes. The only question I would have is what is the story about? Personally, I think that the album can be about anything you want it to be about on the condition that it has meaning to you. In that case, I'll leave you to decide its meaning.
