An excerpt from their Myspace website explains how they approach their musical endeavors: "For some bands, there is a core vision and purpose that shines through from beginning to the end. For others, there is an evolution of an idea, a constant metamorphosis whose end and scope is unknown. For Moving Mountains, the evolution not only encapsulates their music, but a larger overarching concept of what defines ‘Moving Mountains’. That isn’t to say that the Purchase, NY quartet have an artier than thou complex, but it does touch on an evolving aesthetic undercurrent and a belief that a band can create an experiential vision that goes beyond music."

They also covered one of their favorite songs, "If I Should Fall Behind", by Bruce Springsteen. Sign-up for their mailing list and you can receive a free download here: If I Should Fall Behind Download.

They have also announced the production of a new album coming out sometime in 2011.  The are self-recording and self-producing their album just like they did with Foreward and Pneuma.  In the mean time, they are putting the finishing touches on their own recording studio being built in Greg and Frank's basement.

Insight
"Moving Mountains craft a lushly-woven record full of power, emotion, and sincerity.  Combining guitar work not unlike Mogwai or Explosions in the Sky with the spacious hum of other-worldly keyboards and triumphant bursts of brass, Pneuma, beyond anything else, excites; in an indie-rock world regrettably chalk full of monotony and lifelessness, it is everything anyone could ever ask for."-  David Chong
This post-rock  is undoubtedly one of the most unique bands that I have come across.  They know music.  Plain and simple.  Theses guys are very dynamic as their songs range from downtempo experimental tones to borderline screaming.  They are extremely talented and can hit a wide variety of emotions.  They are absolutely astonishing.  This brings me to the lyrics.  The lyrics are very interesting.  Here's a sample taken from "With One's Heart in One's Mouth":
"When all is lost. You've got nothing more, nothing more to fear. Than me and lover's blood...Where the darkness grows from light and the waters flow like rivers from your chest..."
I don't quite fully understand what they all mean, but I'm sure there is a rhyme or reason as to why these lyrics were written.  That's just my insight.

Also, through my research, I have come across that Moving Mountains is compared mainly to The Appleseed Cast.  I though this was an interesting comparison, but spot on.

Fun Fact:
“Aphelion” has been used for a trailer for AMC’s television drama series Mad Men. - Click if you're still skeptical

Simple and sweet, yet so refined and very well assembled and constructed.  That is their music in a nutshell.  Minuscule details makes a song, not the contemporary radio music.  Indie is where it's at.  Get into it.
